Hoosier Energy and its 18 member distribution cooperatives throughout south-central Indiana and southeast Illinois announced today the official launch of Why Electrify, an informational website providing member-consumers with data and information on electricity usage, energy efficiency and beneficial electrification.
Hoosier Energy has named Josh Cisney as Manager of Portfolio Optimization. In the new role, Cisney will support and help manage the company’s active supply portfolio, including negotiation, procurement, and oversight of resources through various term-energy and capacity-product contracts. He will also identify and assess alternative commercial strategies and non-traditional power supply resources, analyzing portfolio impacts to optimize member value and manage risk.
Hallador Energy Company (NASDAQ – HNRG), through its new subsidiary Hallador Power Company, LLC, will acquire Hoosier Energy’s 1-Gigawatt Merom Generating Station, located in Sullivan County, Indiana, in return for assuming certain decommissioning costs and environmental responsibilities. The transaction, which includes a 3.5-year power purchase agreement (PPA), is scheduled to close in mid-July 2022 upon obtaining required governmental and financial approvals.
Marty Lasure, Vice President of Communications & Member Services at Bartholomew County Rural Electric Member Cooperative (BCREMC), was recently elected to the board of directors of Touchstone Energy. Lasure begins her first three-year term on March 4th at the board’s national organizational meeting in Nashville, IN.
Hoosier Energy has named Justin Swarens as Manager of Delivery Services. With more than two decades of experience in the electric industry, Swarens’ primary focus is to ensure the highest possible system reliability. His responsibilities include all construction, operation and maintenance of Hoosier Energy’s transmission and substation facilities.
Hoosier Energy has named Matt Randall as Manager of Public Policy & Community Relations. Matt’s responsibilities include developing, coordinating and executing Hoosier Energy’s public policy and government affairs activity, primarily at the state and federal levels.
In celebration of the Cope Environmental Center achieving the Living Building Certification, Whitewater Valley REMC, along with Hoosier Energy, presented a $50,000 check at the center’s open house earlier this week. The contribution will assist the organization in its mission and vision of educating children and securing a sustainable future.
As technology for smart thermostats continues to improve, Jackson County REMC is studying ways to maximize these devices’ efficiency and cost saving opportunities for its member-consumers. The REMC recently completed an 18-month pilot program – in collaboration with Hoosier Energy and National Rural Electric Cooperative Association – (NRECA), involving 200 of its members.
Hoosier Energy has named Tommy Roberts as Engineering Services Manager. A Hoosier Energy veteran, Roberts now leads Hoosier Energy’s corporate engineering teams who focus on Power Systems Design, Reliability and Asset Management, and System Planning. These teams assure Hoosier Energy’s generation and transmission systems, along with Member Distribution systems (as requested) are designed, and maintained to meet safety, reliability, and regulatory industry standards.
Hoosier Energy and Clēnera are pleased to announce a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between Hoosier Energy and Clēnera’s affiliate, Rustic Hills Solar LLC. The Rustic Hills Solar PPA has a 20-year contract term and is Hoosier Energy’s first PPA with Clēnera, a developer of large-scale solar and storage projects, and a subsidiary of Enlight Renewable Energy LTD (TASE: ENLT).
