Justin Swarens to lead teams focusing on transmission, facilities, and reliability standards

Hoosier Energy has named Justin Swarens as Manager of Delivery Services. With more than two decades of experience in the electric industry, Swarens’ primary focus is to ensure the highest possible system reliability. His responsibilities include all construction, operation and maintenance of Hoosier Energy’s transmission and substation facilities.

Swarens and his team will oversee proactive maintenance of facilities and equipment while confirming ongoing compliance with local, state and federal standards. Matt Mabry, Vice President of Hoosier Energy Operations, expressed his excitement for Swarens joining Hoosier Energy.

“Justin brings significant experience and expertise to our team, including extensive knowledge of electric generation, transmission and distribution. Having previously worked in several positions within our organization and for a member system, Justin will provide a unique, all-encompassing perspective on how power delivery groups interact together to best serve our members.”

Swarens comes to Hoosier Energy from Harrison REMC, previously serving as Manager of Engineering and Operations and Operations Administrative Technology. Prior to his time at Harrison, Swarens spent five years at Hoosier Energy as Manager of System Control Services. He also worked for Hoosier earlier in his career, serving as an Apprentice Lineman, Substation Mechanic and System Control Supervisor. Swarens currently serves on the Indiana Electric Cooperatives (IEC) Regulatory Compliance Executive Committee, as well as IEC’s Engineering and Superintendent’s Planning Committee.

“Hoosier Energy is an outstanding organization with many talented energy professionals and leaders,” said Swarens. “I am blessed to have the opportunity to lead the Delivery Services Team and support the mission of Hoosier Energy and our member systems.”

Swarens received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Louisville. He also completed Hoosier Energy’s Executive Leadership Development program through Indiana University, and has received certifications in Project Management, System Operations, and Leadership throughout his career.
