Cory Samm to originate and negotiate contracts for portfolio procurement

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Hoosier Energy has named Cory Samm as Manager of Power Supply Portfolio. In this role, Samm will create and settle contracts with counterparties for portfolio purchasing, assist in decision-making and justification for new generation construction, conversion, sales, or partnerships, and assist in contract management of existing executed resources.

“Cory is not new to this industry, and his extensive experience in the operations division at Hoosier Energy will add tremendous value to the portfolio team,” said Christy Langley, Director of Portfolio and Risk Management at Hoosier Energy. “Hoosier Energy is fortunate to have Cory’s comprehensive understanding of fuels, generation, project management, and his extreme eagerness to learn and work together. I am very happy to have Cory as an official member of this team.”

Samm has served many positions at Hoosier Energy over his 12-year career including the past two years on the Portfolio Team as a Fuels Analyst. That position also included navigating counterparty negotiations, asset transitions and programmatic portfolio evaluations. Prior to his role on the Fuels Team, he served as an Alternative Energy Coordinator, and at Merom Generating Station, Samm served as Safety Initiative Coordinator, Shift Supervisor and Auxiliary Operator. Prior to Hoosier Energy, Samm served in leadership roles at the Toyota Manufacturing Plant in Princeton, Indiana.

An experienced analyst with a history of working in the utilities industry, Samm holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management along with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.

“Hoosier Energy is a great organization in an industry that is changing very rapidly,” Samm stated. “Exciting opportunities lie ahead for Hoosier Energy and our member systems, and I am grateful to be able to work alongside many talented energy professionals and leaders through the energy portfolio transition.”
