Decatur County REMC recently hosted a field trip from a dozen Greensburg High School seniors.

The students were treated to a variety of presentations designed to teach them about the cooperative and the utility industry.

The day started out with Decatur County REMC’s Pat Nobbe talking about distribution, Hoosier Energy’s Tommy Roberts speaking on generation and transmission and Hoosier Energy’s Brandon Gentry presenting on the Hoosier Energy Apprentice Training School (HEATS).

The experience concluded with a live line demonstration from Decatur County REMC’s Nobbe with the assistance of lineman Matt Eden and lineman Paul Trenkamp.

Greensburg teacher Aaron Mentz said his class provided mostly positive feedback about the trip and called it an overall success with a pair of students indicating interest in a potential career in the field.
