Hoosier Energy held its third annual Community Impact Week from October 6-10.

Moved from the spring to the fall to coincide with IEC’s Community Service Day on October 10, Hoosier Energy employees once again came together to highlight the cooperative principle of Concern for Community. Participants received a T-shirt to wear during the activities.

The week started with Backpack Buddies on Monday. Held in the Training Room at headquarters, 500 bags were packed with food for low-income students to take home from school on the weekends.

It was a similar theme on Tuesday, as employees volunteered at Hoosier Hills Food Bank in Bloomington to pack boxes of food for distribution among the seven surrounding counties.

On Wednesday, the focus was on Habitat for Humanity. Hoosier Energy employees engaged in a variety of jobs at multiple houses, ranging from interior cleanup to framing to blocking on a porch roof and more.

Thursday saw the Versiti Blood Drive visit headquarters with employees donating from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The weeklong events wrapped up on Friday with a final day to Fill the Truck, which was at both headquarters and the operations center. Employees donated non-perishable food items, cleaning supplies, toiletries, hygiene and baby items for Monroe County United Ministries and the Salvation Army.
