BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (June 16, 2020) – Hoosier Energy announced today that Indiana native Jeff Pipkin has been hired as the generation and transmission cooperative’s Economic Development Manager. The Franklin College graduate began his new job June 1.

Pipkin, an Oklahoma University Economic Development Institute graduate through IUPUI, comes to Hoosier Energy after serving as executive director of the Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership (HCEDP) in Avon, IN, since 2016. He actually joined the HCEDP as Director of Business Development in 2013. Prior to that, Pipkin spent 12 years honing his economic development skills as Deputy Director of the Morgan County Economic Development Corp. in Mooresville, IN.

“Jeff’s significant experience in local economic development will be a tremendous asset to Hoosier Energy’s economic development team,” said Harold Gutzwiller, Manager, Economic Development/Key Accounts with Hoosier Energy. “Economic development is a relationship business and the contacts Jeff’s made with site consultants and brokers while working on major projects in his previous position provides us with another way to reach these critical decision influencers.”

“Ever since I entered the economic development industry, I have always been impressed with how Hoosier Energy’s economic development team supported its members and associated county economic development organizations,” Pipkin said. “While I was employed with the Morgan County Economic Development Corp. it was South Central Indiana REMC and Hoosier Energy that afforded me the opportunity to receive the training I needed to excel in this industry. Throughout my career, in the back of my mind, I thought if the opportunity presented itself to join Hoosier Energy then I would pursue it.”

Pipkin, a former Board Treasurer for Leadership Hendricks County, also previously served as an economic development representative for the Central Indiana Regional Workforce Board and as a regional strategic committee member for Indy Partnership.
