Quando Melissa Gillenwater, da Owen Valley High School, entrou em contato com a South Central Indiana REMC para participar de sua aula para graduados do Jobs for America (JAG), a grande quest\u00e3o era como preencher 50 minutos e como mant\u00ea-la interessante.<\/p>\n

No entanto, a vice-presidente de Recursos Humanos do SCI, Marilou Idland, reuniu uma equipe de apresentadores do REMC e da Hoosier Energy que fizeram o trabalho para tr\u00eas turmas de juniores e seniores em 12 de mar\u00e7o.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cFicou bom\u201d, disse Idland. \u201cEu n\u00e3o tinha certeza do que esperar, mas t\u00ednhamos tr\u00eas objetivos: evitar o sono cr\u00f4nico, evitar a rolagem cr\u00f4nica do telefone e esperar que, quando se formarem, essas crian\u00e7as vejam a Hoosier Energy ou a SCI e pensem na apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o. Acho que atingimos todos os tr\u00eas.\u201d<\/p>\n

Idland foi acompanhado pelo capataz da linha de frente Chad Griffin, pelo especialista em O&M de fibra Ian Stratton e pelo administrador de GIS Drew Duncan da SCI. Stratton ajudou os alunos a entender como a fibra funciona, at\u00e9 mesmo dando a eles um teste de m\u00faltipla escolha, e depois falou sobre carreiras em fibra, desde rede e planta externa at\u00e9 t\u00e9cnicos e empregos administrativos.<\/p>\n

Duncap encerrou a parte do SCI falando sobre a import\u00e2ncia dos mapas, a necessidade de mapas eletr\u00f4nicos e o qu\u00e3o importante \u00e9 ajudar um eletricista a encontrar um poste no meio da noite ou no meio de uma tempestade.<\/p>\n

Ele tamb\u00e9m abordou a import\u00e2ncia do uso de drones, o que tamb\u00e9m foi tema da apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o de Johnson, falando sobre o uso de drones para fotos e v\u00eddeos, bem como a necessidade de comunica\u00e7\u00e3o em uma concession\u00e1ria local.<\/p>\n

Dixon falou de modo geral sobre empregos na Hoosier Energy, enquanto Margison discutiu principalmente sobre ve\u00edculos el\u00e9tricos.<\/p>\n

Robinson encerrou explicando como a energia funciona e o que pode significar se a energia piscar tr\u00eas vezes. Ele tamb\u00e9m mostrou aos alunos alguns equipamentos e instrumenta\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

\u201cT\u00ednhamos sete minutos por pessoa \u2013 apenas tr\u00eas minutos para Tina e eu no RH\u201d, disse Idland. \u201cIsso manteve as coisas em movimento, e tivemos t\u00f3picos que mostraram o qu\u00e3o inovadores somos. N\u00e3o \u00e9 apenas uma cooperativa rural chata, mas estamos muito envolvidos com tecnologia e em ficar na frente disso.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gillenwater, que leciona como uma extens\u00e3o da Universidade de Vincennes, mais tarde compartilharia por e-mail o quanto seus alunos aprenderam.<\/p>\n
