Hoosier Energy Promotes Industry Veteran to Manager
Mark Thompson to lead analysis, development, and implementation of market-based rates
Bloomington IN – Hoosier Energy has promoted Mark Thompson to Manager of Market-Based Rates and Special Contracts. Thompson previously served as a Key Accounts Manager at Hoosier and was responsible for implementation and assistance in developing programs focused on supporting large commercial and industrial (C&I) consumers for Member Systems.
Thompson’s new role oversees the analysis, development and implementation of wholesale market-based rates and special contracts with large C&I loads. In doing so, Thompson will work directly with other Hoosier departments, Member Systems, and large, complex C&I consumers to attract, implement, grow, and retain these new and existing loads.
“Mark’s industry knowledge and experience had been meeting the company’s market-based rates needs on a temporary assignment,” said Shannon Thom, Senior Vice President of Member Engagement at Hoosier Energy. “He proved himself by working diligently with Economic Development in crafting much of the agreement with the newest market-based rate load. We are excited to have him focused on continuing to meet the members needs by assisting the Power Markets group in preparation for those purchases, assisting billing with settle-up, and engineering with implementation.”
Prior to Hoosier Energy, Thompson served in various roles with Duke Energy, including Key Account Manager, Senior Account Executive, Senior Business Relations Executive, Business Development Manager, District Engineer, and Industrial Power Engineer. Thompson holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology and previously served as both a professional engineer and Certified Energy Manager in the State of Indiana.
The Henry County native said “I am excited to be given the opportunity to serve as Manager of Market Based Rates and Special Contracts. My career has been devoted to overseeing and meeting member and customer goals and needs, all while ensuring our final product meets or exceeds our highest standards and expectations. I have a great team and I am confident we can continue to accomplish our mission and serve our members well.”
Thompson’s family includes his wife Susan, and his children, Luke, Hannah, Seth, Leah, Hope, Samuel, and Faith, all of Mooreland, Indiana.
