Und wenn ein Mast einmal umf\u00e4llt, kann das einen Dominoeffekt ausl\u00f6sen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201eWenn ein Mast umf\u00e4llt, zieht er an dem Draht, und dann wird er wegen des Drahts den n\u00e4chsten Mast umrei\u00dfen\u201c, erkl\u00e4rt Brett Stephens, Manager f\u00fcr Power System Design. \u201eUnd er zieht den n\u00e4chsten Mast um und den n\u00e4chsten Mast und den n\u00e4chsten Mast.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Um die Kettenreaktion zu stoppen, platziert G&amp;T strategisch Masten, die dieser Kraft standhalten sollen, sogenannte Sackgassen. Das Problem war, dass es auf dem betreffenden Abschnitt nicht gen\u00fcgend solcher Strukturen gab \u2013 und die vorhandenen Strukturen waren veraltet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Das Projekt, das 2017 begann und erst dieses Jahr abgeschlossen wurde, sollte sicherstellen, dass Sackgassen nicht weiter als acht Kilometer voneinander entfernt sind. Die alten Sackgassen, die alle aus Holz waren, wurden durch Stahl ersetzt \u2013 und das Ingenieurteam sorgte daf\u00fcr, dass sie stabil genug waren, um jeder Belastung standzuhalten.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201eEs wurde festgestellt, dass die Strukturen auf einem Betonfundament mit einem Durchmesser von etwa 2,44 Metern und einer Tiefe von 9 Metern errichtet werden mussten, um solche Einst\u00fcrze zu verhindern\u201c, sagte Stephens.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Einige der Sackgassenstandorte waren schwer zug\u00e4nglich. Dies stellte eine weitere Herausforderung dar.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Die Arbeiter bauten Zufahrtsstra\u00dfen zu jedem auszutauschenden Mast und bauten ihn nach Abschluss der Arbeiten wieder ab. In einem Fall war die Stra\u00dfe eine ganze halbe Meile lang.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201eWir kennen das Gel\u00e4nde, aber einige der Sackgassen lagen in ziemlich tiefliegenden Gebieten\u201c, sagte Stephens. \u201eDaher war es eine Herausforderung, im Fr\u00fchjahr mit Wasser fertig werden zu m\u00fcssen.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Die Arbeiter mussten auch sicherstellen, dass auf den bestehenden Masten kein Adlernest errichtet war \u2013 das war auf keinem der Masten der Fall. Um den Nestbau und die f\u00fcr die sichere Verlegung der Nester erforderlichen Stromausf\u00e4lle zu verhindern, sind die neuen Masten mit gew\u00f6lbten Spitzen versehen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Dieses Projekt verlief planm\u00e4\u00dfig und ging in die letzte Phase, die den Ersatz von sechs Geb\u00e4uden in Sullivan County umfasste. Die Arbeiten wurden geplant, Ausr\u00fcstung gekauft und die Mannschaften waren bereit, die Modernisierungsarbeiten abzuschlie\u00dfen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201eWir waren sechs Wochen fr\u00fcher fertig\u201c, sagte Eslinger. \u201eDas wird unserer Genossenschaft Geld sparen.
