Merom Wind kWh Generation
Readings began on December 1, 2008

The 15-kilowatt wind turbine at Hoosier Energy’s Turtle Creek Reservoir Environmental Education Center was placed back into service on Friday, November 5 after eight months out of service for maintenance.  In March, the manufacturer issued a recall and notification that the turbine should be placed out of service until further notice.  The manufacturer completed a major redesign of the strut system due to failure of wire ropes in the old design.   In the process, other components were altered as well including blades and front shaft bearings.  The manufacturer then decided to replace the entire turbine rather transport the turbine for repair.  On November 5th engineers from Scotland traveled to Merom and installed the new turbine.  Upon completion, it was reconnected to the grid and instantly began producing power.  You can track its generation on the website.  The warranty was completed at the expense and the new turbine carries a full two-year warranty.
