A SCI REMC foi fundada em 1939 e \u00e9 a maior cooperativa el\u00e9trica rural de Indiana. As cooperativas el\u00e9tricas foram organizadas por pessoas que viviam em \u00e1reas rurais e se uniram para fornecer eletricidade para suas pr\u00f3prias casas, onde as concession\u00e1rias de propriedade de investidores se recusaram a ir (e ainda v\u00e3o).
