Weatherization Program

The Weatherization Program provides home energy savings measures to member cooperative homes. Weatherization measures may include attic insulation, air sealing, duct sealing, CFLs, low flow shower heads, and faucet aerators. The program offers an in-home energy audit to determine the most cost effective energy savings measures. If a home is determined to be adequately weatherized, the homeowner will still receive CFLs, low flow water saving devices, and energy efficiency information. All of Hoosier Energy's 18 member cooperatives participate in the Weatherization Program.

Projected Lifetime kWh Savings is the anticipated reduction in kilowatt-hours from the installation of energy reduction technologies for the duration of an assumed lifespan of the installed technology.
Lifetime CO2 Savings from Energy Efficiency (in Short Tons) 3,794
Information Lifetime CO2 Savings from Energy Efficiency
Projected Lifetime CO2 Savings is the anticipated reduction in carbon dioxide emissions from coal-fired power plants resulting from the installation of energy reduction technologies for the duration of an assumed lifespan of the installed technology. Calculations are made according to emissions data from the Merom Generation Station, where 1 ton of CO2 is emitted for every MWh generated.
Reduction in Automobiles for One Year from Lifetime CO2 Savings 677
Information Reduction in Automobiles for One Year from Lifetime CO2 Savings
In order to better understand reduced CO2, it is helpful to think of taking the equivalent in cars and their emissions off of the road. The reduction in automobiles for one year is the reduced number of cars from the road for one year based on the equivalent reduction in CO2 from the installation of energy reduction technologies for the duration of an assumed lifespan of the installed technology. Calculation are made according to EPA data that the average car emits 5.7 tons of CO2 per year.
